This Cookie Policy explains how Upscale ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Bebin Prakash, uses cookies and similar technologies on theupscale.app (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser across requests — for example, to remember that you are signed in. Cookies set by us are called "first-party" cookies; cookies set by another company whose service we embed are called "third-party" cookies.
We use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sessionid |
Upscale (first-party) | Keeps you signed in and links your browser to your account session. Also carries one-off status messages (e.g. "Your changes were saved"). Without it you cannot log in. | 2 weeks |
csrftoken |
Upscale (first-party) | Security. Protects you against cross-site request forgery, where another site tries to submit actions to Upscale on your behalf. Required for forms and in-game actions to work. | 1 year |
| Razorpay cookies | Razorpay (third-party) | Set only on our subscription pages, where we load Razorpay's secure checkout to take payment. Razorpay uses them to run the checkout and to detect fraud. We cannot read these cookies. | Set by Razorpay |
The sessionid cookie is marked HttpOnly, so it cannot be read by JavaScript. Both of our cookies are marked Secure (sent only over HTTPS) and SameSite=Lax (not sent on cross-site requests). Neither contains your name, email, or password — sessionid is a random identifier that points to session data held on our server.
Razorpay is our payment processor. When you visit a subscription or checkout page, your browser loads Razorpay's checkout script, and Razorpay may set its own cookies under its own domain. This is governed by Razorpay's own policies, not ours. You can read them at razorpay.com/privacy. Razorpay's cookies are not set on other parts of the Service.
Under privacy laws such as the EU/UK ePrivacy rules, cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service the user has requested do not require prior consent. All of the cookies described above fall into that category: they exist to log you in, keep your account secure, and process a payment you have chosen to make. If we ever introduce analytics, advertising, or other non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
You can view, delete, and block cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you do this per-site under a "Privacy" or "Site settings" menu. Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent you from signing in, saving progress, or subscribing — the Service will not function.
Signing out of your account clears your session. Deleting cookies for this site in your browser will end your session and log you out.
We do not use tracking pixels, web beacons, or device fingerprinting. Separately from cookies, our servers keep standard access logs (including IP address and browser type) as described in our Privacy Policy; these are not cookies and are not used to track you across other websites.
We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. If a change involves introducing non-essential cookies, we will seek your consent before setting them.
